Kapri gets personal on ‘Prevail’
Dancehall artiste Kapri 100 Mill has released his latest single Prevail. The song, which he produced, is the follow up to the song Money Up which was produced by Billboard chart-topping producer Rohan ‘Snowcone’ Fuller. Prevail is distributed by RhythmZZ Digital Distribution.
“Prevail was inspired by some personal life experiences, hurt and pain. What I went through is what I refer to as my molding period. I learnt the true definition of betrayal and sabotage. However, I still came out standing strong ten toes down, hence the title Prevail,” Kapri disclosed.
To capture the essence and feel of the song on video, Kapri went for one of Latin music’s best video directing team. Jack Nine Films, an Orlando, Florida-based company with 15 years of experience, has directed videos for several Latin acts including Bad Bunny, Jay Wheeler, Nicky Jam, Farruko and Christian Alicea.
“Working with Jack Nine Films was a really good experience. The team is very professional and I am pleased with the finished product,” Kapri disclosed.
He is banking on Prevail to take his career to the next level.
For Kapri, music began for him at an early age.
“Music began from my toddler days, was always hearing my father playing Bob Marley, Elvis Presley, and many more icons loud on his vinyl player every Sunday. So that was my first introduction to music by just listening and liking what I heard then started singing them word for word until I started writing my own lyrics,” said Kapri.
Born Dwayne Wallace, he was raised in the Pembroke Hall community of St Andrew, and is the youngest of seven children for his parents.
Music was his calling as he began singing in the school’s choir in primary school. He later moved on to Pembroke Hall High where he continued to fuel his passion for music.
In 2008 Kapri had a major single called Dear Mama which was featured on the “Creeper Riddim” produced by Seanizzle.
Kapri is now residing between Jamaica and the United States where he has been working on advancing his career.
Said Kapri “Musically, I want to cement my name on global stages, while leaving a legacy throughout the entire music industry that my kids and even their great grandchildren will be proud to say my name and to claim that legacy.”
