JPS announces 10-hour scheduled power outage for sections of St Andrew
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is advising customers that due to a scheduled maintenance on Sunday, August 20, some sections of St Andrew will be without electricity between the hours of 7:30 am and 5:30 pm.
JPS said while the outage will be inconvenient, it is necessary to strengthen the power system to better serve customers.
The maintenance will see the light and power company replacing old poles and removing vegetation on major lines in the areas to be affected.
“Yes…we know the timing isn’t great, especially with the World Championships and heat, but this maintenance outage is an essential part of our efforts to strengthen the power system to serve you better,” JPS tweeted.
