Journalist charged following gun seizure

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica— A journalist was arrested and charged for illegal possession of firearm after a vehicle he was driving was searched by police on the Spanish Town bypass in St Catherine on Wednesday, November 16.

Charged is 24-year-old Naceme Campbell, of a Job Lane, Spanish Town address in the parish.

Reports from the Spanish Town Police are that about 1:30 pm, Campbell was seen driving a Toyota Wish motor car when he was signalled to stop.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and the firearm with a magazine affixed was found in a black knapsack.

Campbell was subsequently arrested and charged.
