JayEDGE The Jamaican Singer looking for big things this year
Hot on the heels of his performance at the New Year’s Eve Fireworks Festival at the waterfront, fast-rising artiste JayEDGE The Jamaican Singer, has declared it is all systems go this year.
The singer, who is celebrated as Jamaica’s first reggae-pop artiste, had the patrons at the fireworks event in a frenzy as he performed several songs from his catalogue.
Having seen the patron’s positive response to his music, the artiste plans to build on the momentum. He has already begun making moves as he works with several industry insiders to continue building his repertoire and name locally and abroad.
“Look out Jamaica. Prepared to be blown away,” the singer said. “This is a musical journey that will break barriers and never be forgotten.”
JayEDGE believes his recently released single, Hulk, is a step in the right direction and will go a long way in pushing his brand. The song displays the artiste’s intrinsic vocal clarity and powerful wordplay as he sings of his intention to break out of the pack.
The music video for Hulk follows in the footsteps of his previous hit, Mek It Play/Cashpot, which gained acclaim in the Caribbean. Hulk is now available on all major streaming platforms.
Back in 2019, the music world took notice when JayEDGE received a Grammy nomination for his outstanding work on Black Uhuru’s album As The World Turns.
Rooted in reggae yet fearlessly venturing into diverse musical territories, JayEDGE draws inspiration from iconic figures like Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Bolton.
But his talent goes beyond vocals. He is a true multi-faceted artiste, excelling as a music producer, songwriter, and masterful multi-instrumentalist.
JayEDGE’s early years were marked by accolades from the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) during his school days. As part of the Subkonshus band, affiliated with dancehall artiste Konshens, he showcased his versatility as an instrumentalist and vocalist.
The artiste’s diverse musical background laid the foundation for his exploration into music production and songwriting. In 2015, he founded his record label, officially registering it in 2018, with a dedicated focus on delivering “good & positive music” to a global audience.
JayEDGE The Jamaican Singer is a formally-trained musician from the Edna Manley School of the Visual and Performing Arts. With a decade of industry experience, including a notable career as a popular touring pianist, he now takes the stage as a captivating artiste, pushing boundaries and reshaping the future of Jamaican music.
The singer says he is delivering music that is relevant, uplifting and always free from expletives.
