Jahshii’s lawyer contacts police amid murder probe; Grants Pen tense
The St Andrew North police have confirmed that a lawyer representing entertainer Jahshii has contacted the Criminal Investigations Branch regarding the ‘Born Fighter’ singer being wanted for questioning in connection to the murder of a businessman in the Grants Pen, St Andrew area earlier this month.
“The artiste’s lawyer contacted the CIB to make arrangements for him to do a question and answer session,” a source told OBSERVER ONLINE.
It emerged last week that Jahshii could have information about the death of 45-year-old businessman Omar ‘Romie’ Wright.
Reports are that Wright was killed on Shortwood Road about 10:40pm, on June 7 by armed men. There are reports that Jahshii’s mom, who operates a wholesale business in the area, had an alleged altercation with Wright during which he threw water in her face.
It is rumoured that the Jashii, whose real name is Mluleki Tafari Clarke, then reportedly argued with Wright about the incident. Wright was gunned down hours later by persons unknown.
Since the murder of Romie, the Grants Pen community has been tense as the businessman is the brother of an alleged don in the area.
“He is the last person who reportedly had a quarrel with the businessman before his death. The police believe that Jahshii can assist with our investigations,” the police source said.
Rumours have been circulating that Romie’s brother has sworn to avenge his death, which has caused both Jahshii and his mother to avoid the area. Jahshii is booked to perform on a show at Hope Gardens this Sunday, which may be affected by all the rumours. The police are moving quickly to defuse tensions in the area.
Jahshii has been making strides in the music scene since his breakthrough with hits like Born Fighter, Cream of The Crop, Life Lessons, Keep Up, and 25/8.
