Israel rave attack survivor says she hid under dead bodies for 7 hours
A music festival reveller who was at a rave in Israel when Hamas terrorists infiltrated and began killing partygoers says she was able to survive by hiding for seven hours under the bodies of those who were killed in the attack.
According to the New York Post, Lee Sasi was attending the all-night rave that drew in a crowd of about 3,000, mostly young Israelis, when Hamas launched their surprise attack Saturday morning. The attack sent festival attendees running for their lives and taking cover in orchards as gunfire rang out for hours.
Sasi and about 35 others had taken cover in a bomb shelter when they were discovered by Hamas fighters, who began shooting into the bunker at random.
She was one of 10 people who survived the horrifying attack by hiding under dead bodies for hours, according to messages she sent a friend.
Her friend asked if that was how many people were still alive after they were saved and she replied, “Yes after 7 hours being in hiding under dead bodies in the bomb shelters.”
“I’m not joking,” she added, sending a photo of what appears to be several bodies stacked on top of each other.
Sasi then told her friend that 1,000 bullets were shot into the bomb shelter while the group took cover.
“The Arabs attacked the party and started shooting and throwing grenades into the bomb shelter that didn’t have any doors,” she wrote “15 grenades and 1,000 bullets being shot.”
“For 7 hours straight,” she added.
According to the messages, Sasi contacted relatives of hers in Israel who sent ex-Israel Defense Force soldiers to save her and the others.
“We were so lucky. It was all by a miracle,” she noted in the message.
An estimated 800 Israelis have been killed, more than 2,000 are wounded, and over 150 have been taken captive by Hamas, including foreigners.
