Hospital, police station and school to benefit from St Mary kite festival
The St Mary Kite and Food festival has become a staple on Jamaica’s entertainment calendar for the Easter weekend, with this year’s staging set for Sunday April 9 at Buccaneers Jerk Center.
The event again promises to be a family funday with traditional Jamaican dishes on offer, and dancing, a bun eating contest and a kite competition among the entertainment package.
With a one year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organisers are going all out to ensure that the 2023 staging will be fun for all.
Chief organiser of the event, Rajay Gordon told OBSERVER ONLINE that the community benefits from the show.
“My first show I gave food packages to needy persons in the Port Maria area knowing it was a difficult time,” Gordon said.
According to Gordon, the Port Maria Hospital, the Port Maria police station and St Cyprian Preparatory in Highgate are the selected beneficiaries for this year.
