Grade 11 student in custody following beatdown of second-former at BB Coke High
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — At least one student has been taken into custody in relation to an incident at the BB Coke High School where a grade 8 student was beaten for allegedly stepping on a grade 11 student’s Clarks shoes on Thursday.
In confirming the incident, Acting Superintendent of police and commanding officer for the St Elizabeth division, Coleridge Minto, said the student was arrested on reasonable suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm. Other persons are being interviewed and formal charges are expected to be laid thereafter.
Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
Preliminary reports are that shortly after the dismissal of classes, the two boys were among students collecting their phones when the older boy accused the younger boy of stepping on his Clarks shoes.
The grade 11 student allegedly assaulted the grade eight student by punching and beating him on his hands and face.

The second-form student has since been admitted at hospital where he is receiving treatment for his injuries.
