Four shot, one fatally, at bar in Manchester’s Greenvale
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — The troubled community of Greenvale in Manchester is now tense following a gun attack on patrons at a bar in an area known as Texas on Sunday morning. Following the shooting, one man was discovered dead while three others including a woman were injured.
Sources identified the deceased as Andrade Hines, otherwise called ‘Claffy’, a resident of Greenvale.
Residents told OBSERVER ONLINE that at about midnight, Hines was among a group of people gathered at a bar in Texas when gunmen pounced and opened fire, hitting four people and sending others scampering for cover.
The four injured patrons were rushed to hospital where Hines was pronounced dead and the others admitted for treatment.
OBSERVER ONLINE was told that of the three injured people, two sustained gunshot wounds and the third person was grazed.
Since the shooting, tension and fear have resurfaced among residents of Greenvale, a community located just a mile west of the Mandeville town centre.
Residents are fearful of the possibility of reprisals.
One resident suggested that divine intervention was needed to prevent further bloodshed in the area.
“A peace walk cannot help. They need God!” the resident said.
Earlier this month a man was killed at a party on Bethel Street in Greenvale.
