Fire at Falmouth Market leaves three vendors counting losses
TRELAWNY, Jamaica — Three vendors who sell at the Falmouth Market in Trelawny, are now counting their losses after a fire of unknown origin destroyed all their stock Thursday night.
The three, Audrey Gordon, Adris Campbell, and Simona Jarrett, were eagerly anticipating back-to-school sales come Wednesday at the weekly flea market popularly called “bend down” when the disastrous fire struck.
The Trelawny Fire Department has commenced a probe to determine the cause of the blaze.
An estimate of the loss is also expected to be established by the investigation.
According to acting deputy superintendent for the Trelawny Fire Department, Carol Wilmot, the brigade was alerted of the fire about 10:37 pm.
“The investigation into the cause of the fire continues,” Wilmot told OBSERVER ONLINE.
