Elderly man dies in three-vehicle crash in St Ann
ST ANN, Jamaica – A 66-year-old man died in a collision in Moneague, St Ann on Thursday afternoon.
He is Roy Brown, a farmer of Grierfield, Moneague in the parish.
Police reports are that the crash involved a pink Eagle motorcycle that was being driven by Brown, a grey Toyota Probox motor car and a brown 2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara.
It is reported that the crash happened at around 5: 40 pm.
The Brigade and the police were called to the scene and those involved in the crash were taken to hospital where Brown was pronounced dead and the others treated.
Monique Patterson, a resident of Moneague described Brown as a very hard-working and humble person.
“You always see him on his bike going to and from work. He is a man who’s always on his farm; everybody knows that about him. [It is] just really unfortunate what happened,” she said.
“Very humble man I tell you. He always stays to himself and doesn’t bother anybody. It’s just him and his bike you always see. He is going to be missed, trust me,” she expressed.
Since the start of the year, St Ann has recorded around 35 fatalities in 33 collisions. This is less than the 40 fatalities in 31 collisions for the corresponding period last year.
