Eight honoured at inaugural BTCGI Awards in The Bronx
Persons who have made a humanitarian mark in The Bronx were lauded for their benevolence on December 7 during the inaugural Bible Truth Church of God International Gala (BTCGI) Awards, held at Eastwood Manor in that New York City borough.
Eight individuals and organisations were acknowledged for partnering with Lifeline Ministries to assist the less fortunate in The Bronx, one of three boroughs in New York City with massive West Indian populations.
“The BTCGI Gala Awards was a resounding success, exceeding expectations and leaving a lasting impression on attendees. More than 250 guests enjoyed the event, with many requesting it to become an annual occurrence,” said Damion Hawthorne, who helped produce the gala.
Hawthorne’s family, originally from rural St Andrew, are founders and operators of BTCGI which oversees Lifeline Ministries. His parents, Pastor Leroy Hawthorne and his wife Herma, are principals of that church which has been active for over 20 years.

He told Observer Online that it is important for people who reach out to the impoverished, be shown appreciation.
“The feedback is overwhelmingly positive, emphasising the gala’s impact and celebrating the achievements of all involved,” said Hawthorne.
