District constables recognised for quality service
MANDEVILLE, Jamaica — Commissioner of Police, Antony Anderson is expressing gratitude to members of his police force for exemplary service to their country.
In bringing greetings at the 42nd Anniversary Church Service of the United District Constables Association (UDCA) at the Northern Caribbean University (NCU) on Saturday, Anderson told district constables in particular, that he was grateful for their commitment as they put themselves in harm’s way everyday not just for their families “but for people you don’t know.”
According to a release, district contables who have done remarkable well in their role, were highlighted. A tribute was also done in honour of fallen members.
The United District Constable Association was formed in 1899.
President of the United District Constables Association, Damion Pryce said at inception, “district constables were concerned with patrols and normally reside in the communities where their duties would be performed.” He then went on to explain how the auxiliary has evolved.
“This has changed considerably [and] district constables are now working in almost every section of the Jamaica Constabulary Force,” he noted.
The theme of this year’s service was: “Demonstrating a Shared Vision.”
The commissioner of police, Head of the Police Federation Corporal Rohan James and other JCF and NCU officials were in attendance. Saturday marks the beginning of week-long activities being held in honour of the invaluable service provided by district constables in Jamaica.
