Councillor Ainsley Parkins shot dead
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – Councillor for the Southborough division in Portmore, St Catherine, the People’s National Party’s Ainsley Parkins was shot dead on Thursday morning.
It is understood that Parkins was shot in his division and transported to the Spanish Town Hospital.
“He is dead. I am just leaving the hospital and heading to Southborough right now. He was one of the best councillors in Portmore. Never tolerated the gunmen and gave information to the police on their activities consistently,” one source told OBSERVER ONLINE.
He is the second politician from the division to be murdered in just over a year.
In May 2022, Lennox Hines, Jamaica Labour Party councillor-caretaker for the division, was shot and killed on Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston.
