Chris Brown to make grand return to Jamaican stage after more than a decade
More than a decade after his performance at Reggae Sumfest, American RnB superstar Chris Brown is expected to make a grand return to the stage on Jamaican soil.
Come August 25-27, 2023, Miami’s BZR WKND (Bizarre Weekend) is expected to make its debut in Kingston with Brown as its headline act.
BZR WKND, which spans two days of parties and live performances from both international and local artistes, is expected to attract hundreds of patrons and, according to its website, “destined to be one of the largest music festivals and party weekends” this year. The event’s launch is set for the AC Hotel on Friday.
“The blending of American RnB, pop and Hip-Hop with Jamaican dancehall will be the magical formula for creating a high-energy powerhouse of a weekend that will build with intensity with each event, climaxing with a live concert,” the event’s website read.
The Sharon Burke-led Solid Agency is said to be the local company behind the Miami event’s Jamaican debut. In addition to pop phenom Chris Brown, Sean Kingston is also listed among the performers for the event alongside local acts such as Ding Dong and TeeJay.
Chris Brown last performed in Jamaica in 2010 as one of the international acts at Reggae Sumfest. The entertainer made local headlines following his energetic set which included a cameo appearance from Elephant Man.
