‘Chi Chi’ charged for Salt Spring triple murder
ST JAMES, Jamaica – A man has been charged in connection with the killing of two children and a man in Salt Spring, St James, earlier this month.
Charged with three counts of murder, two counts of shooting with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon and using a firearm to commit a felony is 26-year-old Travis Tummings.
Tummings, otherwise called ‘Chi Chi’, who is a roof tiler from Barrett Town in St James, was charged on Saturday after he was pointed out during an Identification Parade.
Tummings was reportedly held as a person of interest in the triple murder during an intelligence-led joint police/military operation at a guest house in Barrett Town two Saturdays ago.
He is charged with the November 6, 2023, killing of seven-year-old Justin Perry and nine-year-old Nahcoliva Smith, both students, and Tevin ‘Bancel’ Hayle, 26. All three are from Salt Spring.
Reports were that around 5:20 pm, a taxi operator was driving his grey 2006 motorcar from Salt Spring heading to Montego Bay with Perry and Smith on board.

Hayle reportedly stopped the vehicle and asked for a drive to his home. As Hayle entered the car, a man armed with a rifle immediately exited bushes on the right side of the roadway and opened gunfire at the vehicle, hitting him, Smith and Perry in their heads and upper bodies.
