Cavalier SC extend win streak, move into third place in JPL
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Cavalier SC beat Humble Lion 2-1 at Stadium East in Kingston on Wednesday to continue their winning run in the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League.
Cavalier’s fifth consecutive win, and eighth of the season, took them into third place in the standings on 27 points, trailing Portmore United only on goal-difference and leaders Mt Pleasant FA who are a point ahead.
Gadail Irving powered Cavalier SC into the lead with a goal in the seventh minute while Shaniel Thomas added a second in the 20th minute.
However, an own goal from Irving in the 37th minute snapped their ‘shut-out’ run at four straight games.
Harbour View also won back-to-back games for the first time this season, beating Dunbeholden FC in the second game of a double header and jumped into ninth place on goal-difference over Montego Bay United, both on 15 points.
Shaquiel Bradford took advantage of a defensive error, pouncing on a ball that a Dunbeholden defender failed to clear and fired home in the 15th minute to give Harbour View the lead.
Harbour View doubled the lead in the 84th minute after a Dunbeholden defender handled the ball in his own area and Jahshaun Anglin stepped up to score the resulting penalty.
