Cavalier open big lead over Harbour View in Concacaf semis
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Cavalier SC virtually secured their place in the final of the 2023 Concacaf Caribbean Cup as they took a massive 5-0 lead over fellow Jamaica Premier League club Harbour View in the first leg of their semi-finals played at Sabina Park in Kingston on Tuesday evening.
A place in the final would also see Cavalier securing a spot in the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup.
The Rudolph Speid-coached club got off to a flying start and were up 2-0 in just 12 minutes, after Shaniel Thomas opened the scoring in the fifth minute with his eighth goal of the campaign before Jamaro Calvin doubled the advantage in the 12th minute.
Cavalier SC extended the lead to 3-0 in the 64th minute when a shot from Calvin deflected off a Harbour View defender and rolled over the goal line and it was 4-0 in the 73rd minute when Jeovanni Laing scored.
Dwayne Allen made it 5-0 in the 87th minute as Cavalier SC took what appears to be an isurmountable lead going into next Tuesday’s return leg at the same venue.
