Bernice Moore remembered as gifted educator who leaves behind ‘huge’ legacy
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Scores gathered at the UWI Chapel in St Andrew on Saturday to remember and celebrate the life of the late Bernice Rose Moore, a career educator who dedicated 49 years of service to teaching in Jamaica.
Moore died aged 87 on November 13 of last year.
At Saturday’s thanksgiving service, she was remembered as a gifted educator who was committed to helping every student reach their full potential.
Education Minister Fayval Williams described as “huge” the legacy left behind by Moore on the local teaching fraternity.
Among Moore’s myriad of accomplishments over her nearly five-decade career, Williams cited the late retired educator’s work at Norman Manley Comprehensive High and Shortwood Teachers’ College as being “two of her most significant contributions”.
