Barracks Road starts VMF U13 run with big win
TUCKER, St James — Former winners Barracks Road Primary scored a big 5-0 win over Chetwood Primary as the St James Football Association Victoria Mutual Foundation’s Under 13 competition kicked off with a doubleheader at Wespow Park on Wednesday.
Russchaine Hemans scored a double to lead Barracks Road Primary to the win as they took early control of Zone C while in the opening game.
Granville Primary, who won the most recent competition in 2019, were held to a 0-0 draw by Howard Cooke Primary.
The competition continues today with a triple header, also at Wespow Park, Catherine Hall where St James Prep will meet in a Zone D game set to start at 10.00 am. Buckingham Primary and Pinnacle Academy meet in a Zone D game starting at 11:15 pm, while Corinaldi Avenue Primary and Irwin Primary will meet in a Zone B game set to kick off at 12:30 pm.
On Wednesday, Thisiyd Decarish gave Barracks Road the lead in the sixth minute and Hemans made it 2-0 in the 30th minute when he scored from the penalty spot. He then added his second in the 33rd minute.
Shavar Blake made it 4-0 in the 35th minute before Cameron Hylton added a fifth a minute into time added in the second half.
