Attorney seeks release of cop boyfriend in Donna-Lee Donaldson case
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Attorney-at-law Christopher Townsend has filed a writ of habeas corpus to secure the release of Constable Noel Maitland, the boyfriend of missing social media personality Donna-Lee Donaldson.
The writ was filed in the Kingston and St Andrew parish court about 3 pm Friday.
“They’re arguing it now,” Townsend told OBSERVER ONLINE.
A writ of habeas corpus orders the custodian of an individual in custody to produce the individual before the court to make an inquiry concerning his or her detention, to appear for prosecution or to appear to testify.
Maitland was arrested by detectives from the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch on Wednesday in relation to her disappearance.
He was arrested following a case review by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) and other agencies.
On July 13, Donaldson’s mother, Sophia Lugg, reported to police that she had not seen or heard from her daughter.
Maitland is also known as the music producer Noel Onetime. He co-founded One Time Music in 2018 with Chevaughn Davis and Sean Townsend. The production house is known for the hit songs such as No Underwear by Dexta Daps, and Clarks Pon Foot by Jahvillani.
