Another higgler killed in Linstead Market
A male vendor was murdered on Friday morning at the Linstead Market, the second such murder of a higgler in the market in the last six days.
The deceased has been identified as Carvett Chue, otherwised called “Kelo”, a 43 year-old vendor of 18 Fletchers Ave, Linstead St Catherine.
Police reports are that citizens heard loud explosions in the market and went to investigate and discovered the now deceased at his stall suffering from gunshots wounds. The police were then summoned. Bystanders attempted to assist Chue and placed him on a push cart and transported him along Rodney Hall main before the police arrived and assisted him to the Linstead Hospital.
Chue was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body had what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the neck and left lower back.
This is the second vendor to be killed in the Linstead market in less than a week as 55-year-old Marcia Smith, who operated a stall in the market, was shot and killed by a gunman on May 14.
