Air Traffic Controllers to return to work
The island’s Air Traffic Controllers, many of whom stayed off the job this morning, are to return to work by the start of the 7 o’clock shift this evening.
An emergency meeting was called at the Ministry of Labour at 11 o’clock this morning after the controllers started calling in sick on Friday night in an act of protest to voice their dissatisfaction at the compensation review process.
The meeting included representatives of the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority and the Jamaica Air Traffic Controllers Association.
According to information reaching Observer Online, the parties have agreed to resume discussions at the level and have committed to return to the Labour Ministry next week Friday if the discussions stall.
The Minister of Labour and Social Security, Pearnel Charles Jr has thanked the parties and relevant stakeholders for agreeing to meet at the ministry in a bid to resolve the dispute.
