Accused bike thief killed by mob in Westmoreland
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica— A man was killed by an angry mob in Whitehall, Negril in Westmoreland on Friday night after he was accused of stealing a motorcycle.
The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Oneil ‘Little T’ Tomlinson of a Frome address.
An eyewitness who did not want to be identified told OBSERVER ONLINE that he saw the man running through the bushes into a yard.
“Mi only see when him drop and dem start beat him with rockstones and boards,” he recalled.
“Three night pan straight him a thief bike, but last night dem kill him,” he said.
Yuh think it easy fi a man a save and a buy bike fi all $180,000 and man a thief it, dem too wicked man,” he added.
According to the Police’s Corporate Commutations Unit (CCU) report, Tomlinson died as a result of injuries he received in Whitehall.
“It is theorized that he was mobbed by residents after attempting to steal a motorcycle. He died at hospital at about 9:15pm,” the CCU report said.
The Negril police are investigating.
