10-y-o Florida girl fatally shot woman arguing with her mom
ORLANDO, Florida— A 10-year-old girl in Orlando, Florida has been arrested on murder charges in the shooting death of a woman who was fighting with her mother last month.
According to ClickOrlando.com the girl, who has not been identified due to her age, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of second-degree murder.
However, the Orange-Osceola State Attorney’s Office stated in a release that “no charging decision has been made.”
“Our office has started the process of reviewing this case and will consider all of the facts, including the age of the child, and all of the surrounding circumstances, when making a charging decision,” the statement from Monique Worrell said.
“We anticipate that whatever charges we eventually file, if any, will ensure she receives the interventions necessary to address her behaviour, help her change and grow, and ensure the public’s safety going forward.”
Orlando police reported that the fatal shooting happened on May 30, stating that the girl’s mother, Lakrisha Isaac, 31, got into a fight with Lashun Rodgers, 41. At one point, Isaac handed her daughter a bag, which had a gun inside. Police said Isaac punched Rodgers, who punched back.
Police said Rodger’s boyfriend tried to break the two women up, but Rodgers broke away. Witnesses say that is when the girl fired two shots at Rodgers, striking her. Rodgers was taken to a hospital, where she died.
A witness claimed he heard the girl shout, “She shouldn’t have hit my momma,” before opening fire.
Clickorlando.com reported that Isaac also faces charges of manslaughter by culpable negligence, aggravated assault with a gun, negligent storage of a gun and neglect of a child from the incident.
