Townsend, Patterson fined for excessive use of the whip
THE Stewards have announced the following disciplinary actions arising from inquiries held at the offices of the Jamaica Racing Commission, 8 Winchester Road, Kingston 10, on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
Jockey Raddesh Roman who rode Blu Sensation in the second race on Saturday, December 16, 2023, was suspended for two racedays and fined $10,000 for striking another rider with his whip in the race whilst leaving the 600-metre point. The suspension will commence on January 20, 2024.
Jockey Jerome Innis who rode Rosetta in the second race on Saturday, December 16, 2023, was suspended for two racedays and fined $10,000 for intimidation and interference caused to Blu Sensation approaching the 600-metre point. The suspension will commence on January 20, 2024.
Jockey Tevin Foster who rode Glittering Magnum in the fourth race on Tuesday, December 23, 2023, was fined $7,000 for the intimidation and interference caused to Lion Charmer approaching the 300-metre point.
Jockey Shavon Townsend who rode Press Conference in the 10th race on Tuesday, December 23, 2023, was fined $10,000 for excessive use of the whip in the final 300-metre of the race. He was also suspended for one raceday and fined $10,000 for accepting and holding a young child in the winners’ enclosure after the running of the race. The suspension will commence on January 20, 2024.
Jockey Javaniel Patterson who rode Modern Miracle in the seventh race on Saturday, December 30, 2023, was fined $10,000 for the excessive use of the whip during the race.
