Roman targets jockey’s title in 2024
Lerone “Bredda” Lee, agent for jockey Raddesh Roman, recently announced that his client has made significant improvement with health issues that previously affected his performance in the saddle. Lee said Roman is fully focused now and is seeking to become a champion jockey at Caymanas Park.
Affectionately known as Sneaky Fox, Roman underwent a sinus procedure to resolve breathing difficulties that had plagued his consistency and overall well-being throughout his career.
Lee, who began collaborating with Roman in May, shared insights about the jockey’s dedication to addressing his health problems. “After starting to work with him in May, he informed me of his sinus issues that affected his ability to consistently attend work in the mornings. He assured me he was taking steps to rectify the problem and indeed took a week off in September for a procedure related to his breathing. Since then [I’ve] noticed changes in his work ethic,” Lee explained. Roman began riding at Caymanas Park in 2018 and has already achieved impressive success, exceeding 100 career wins.
This year has been particularly outstanding, boasting 39 victories. In 2022 he celebrated wins aboard Blue Vinyl in the 2000 Guineas and St Leger Classic races. Lee emphasised Roman’s drive for continued success this year and the ambitious goal of claiming a championship next year.
“I foresee many victories ahead, and he wants people to know he is aiming for a championship next year. Though ambitious, I believe he possesses the potential to become a champion jockey,” Lee remarked.
Furthermore, Lee underscored Roman’s aspirations to excel on Mouttet Mile race day, the pinnacle event on the racing calendar. He anticipates many wins, especially on Mouttet Mile day, as he looks forward to showcasing his skills and attracting attention from those unfamiliar with racing. Eager to become a household name, Roman aims to end the year with a bang,” Lee concluded.
