Morimoto, Power Ranking, Sunset Silhoutte main contenders for Caymanas Park Announcers’ Trophy
THE second staging of the $1.25-million Caymanas Park Announcers’ Trophy, a Restricted Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward going six and a half furlongs (1,300m), is the main feature on Sunday’s eight-race card.
Below, the Jamaica Observer‘s The Supreme Racing Guide analyses the 13 runners down to take part in the race.
1. RAINSVILLE: (4 gr g by Casual Trick – Fiftyshadesofray) – Finished a strong second to I Realise over seven furlongs (1,400m) on September 30. Rainsville could run another good race here but is not expected to win. Note: Lasix will be used again.
2. CLASSICAL ORB (USA): (4 b g by Orb – Tiz A Masterpiece) – Has no chance where winning is concerned.
3. MORIMOTO: (4 b c by Casual Trick – Luckybegood) – Has two runs under his girth so far this season. Morimoto’s last effort was on September 30 when he came home third behind I Realise and Rainsville over seven furlongs. Given those two runs, Morimoto should now be cherry ripe to lead these home .
4. SIR JOHN: (5 b g by Natural Selection – Luscious) – Hard to fancy.
5. POWER RANKING: (4 b c by Casual Trick – Escandolsa) – Has finished in second place in his last five races. Power Ranking ran over this distance on July 9 when he was just beaten by three-parts of a length by Green Gold Rush; if can reproduce that effort then he should be a dangerous contender here. Power Ranking is as fit as a fiddle, and given his fine form he could go one better here.
6. GAMBLER: (6 b m by Freedom for Jante – Kennisha) – Has no form to recommend.
7. TEKAPUNT: (4 b g by Northern Giant – Just A Flutter) – Is going to be left behind in this one.
8. BIG BIG DADDY: (6 dkb h by Northern Giant – Just A Flutter) – Has been struggling in recent times, and that should continue here.
9. SNOWFLAKES: (5 gr m by American Dance – Miss Passion) – Likely to be outsped among these.
10. GET A PEPSI: (4 ch c by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Getupstandup) – Has been competitive at the level with some exciting runs. Get A Pepsi has worked quite well for this trophy race and should run accordingly.
11. BRINKS (4 b g by Bern Identity – Indian Bluff) – Based on performance this season so far,Brinks can only be taken on trust.
12. RING CHARMER: (5 b m by Where’s The Ring – Charming Beauty) – Is not expected to trouble the main principals here.
13. SUNSET SILHOUTTE: (4 b f by Northern Giant – Ahwhofah) – Consistent filly who always puts in a good effort. Sunset Silhoutte was second by 13¼ lengths behind the much-improved Rani Bangala over one mile on October 15. Another good effort is expected from Sunset Silhoutte here.
