Money Miser a safe bet in Division one of Vestia Trophy feature
THE Vestia Trophy, a Restricted Stakes contest for native-bred three-year-olds and four-year-olds (non-winners of four) and imported three-year-olds and upward (non-winners of three), takes centre stage on tomorrow’s 10-race card.
The 7½-furlong (1,500-m) race is split into two sections with purse money of $1.19 million each.
Below, Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide analyses the nine runners entered to contest Division One.
1. MONEY MISER: (3 ch c by Soul Warrior – She’s Traditional) – Finished in seventh position in the Moutett Mile on December 2 behind American-bred Rough Entry. Money Miser takes a drop in grade here, and with nothing outstanding in the line-up he could easily put these away.
2. NORBLAR: (3 b c by Wannabeaplayer – Special Degree) – Has been holding his own in recent times. Norblar should continue to earn for his stable here.
3. MODERN MIRACLE: (3 ch c by Hedge Fund – Sound of Miracle) – Has no realistic chance of winning this one.
4. MR SENATOR: (3 rn c by Natural Selection – Khadiliah) – Was a fighting winner on December 16 when beating Eazy Peazy by three quarters of a length over 7½ furlongs. Mr Senator is not expected to repeat here.
5. SECRET ADMIRAL: (3 ch c by Admiral Alex – Secret Cat) – Was never a factor when finishing in ninth position down the track to Rhythm Buzz over a mile on December 17. Secret Admiral should again be left behind here.
6. SUPER ALEX: (3 ch c by Admiral Alex – Jamaican Pharoah) – Finished in second position by three lengths behind Money Miser over 9 nine furlongs and 25 yards (1,820m) on November 18. With Money Miser present here the chances of Super Alex winning are very slim.
7. HUNTSMAN: (3 ch c by Key To Power – Dream Point) – Regained form when finishing second to Money Market in the six-furlong (1,200m) event on December 23. Huntsman, based on that effort, should have a say here and looks the likely one to challenge Money Miser for top honours here.
8. DIGITAL LIGHT: (3 b f by Wannabeaplayer – Morning Grace) – Should not have a say here.
