Going with Matuso in Saturday’s Cup feature
A small but competitive field of five juveniles lock horns in the Andrew HB Aguilar Memorial Cup on the nine-race programme scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday, December 16).
The maiden special weight event for native-bred two-year-olds will run over one mile (1,600m).
Below, the Jamaica Observer‘s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a look at each runner and their prospects of winning.
1. MATUSO: (2 b c Casual Trick – Puddy Pooh) – Has raced two times so far in his career and has finished third on both occasions. Matuso last run was on November 19 when he finished 2 ¼ lengths behind stablemate Butter Cup and Blu Sensation over 7 furlongs (1,400m). Despite the presence of Blu Sensation, Matuso is talented enough to not only turn the tables but beat the rest of the field, plus the distance is right.
2. HIMAYA: (2 rn f by Casual Trick – Raksha) – Has no realistic chance of winning this one.
3. ROSETTA: (2 rn f by Bold Conquest – Khadiliah) – Went down fighting on last when finishing second by a head to stablemate Fastnfuriouslinks over 6 furlongs (1,200m) on November 11. Rosetta is on the improve and she should be challenging for top honours.
4. BLU SENSATION: (2 b f by Sensational Slam – Blues In The Grass) – Showed grit and determination when finishing second by 2 lengths to upset winner Butter Cup over 7 furlongs on November 19. With the distance increased and the pedigree to get a distance of ground, Blu Sensational could go one better.
5. FRANCIS: (2 b f by Savoy Stomp – Jazzy Jet) – Was expected to lead home rivals on October 15 over 5 furlongs (1,000m) round but finished third behind Run Julie Run and Queen of Soul. Francis could make a stronger impression.
