Susan Smith pens second book
Publicist and author Susan Smith has penned her second book, Hey Black Boy to offer inspiration to her readers.
“Well, after releasing the first book, one question kept on recurring and that was, ‘What about the boys?’ So, I decided to publish Hey Black Boy as a follow up to Little Black Girl,” she told the Jamaica Observer.
Officially published on July 10, the book can be purchased on Amazon.
Physical copies will be available in the coming weeks in local bookstores.
Smith further said she has high hopes for the book’s success.
“I hope that it reaches black boys all over the world,” said Smith, who is the holder of a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from The University of West Indies, Mona.
The author confesses that she is inspired by Edith Blyton, Toni Morrison, Kamau Brathwaite, and Derek Walcott.
She also serves as principal of Powerhouse Global Media.
She further said that the feedback for her projects have been favourable. Smith shared with the Observer that there are also other complementary projects in the pipeline.
“The reception has been amazing so far and I am happy for that. Additionally, I am working on some workbooks and journals to pair with these two books. I am hoping to get them in time for the next school year,” she said.
