KillaImij Records and Munga team up on Wul Out
As a child residing in Shirley Castle, Portland, Sheldon Thaxter developed a passion for music.
His father owned a sound system called King Mello that often participated in musical clashes with different sounds from the area.
“My father did have a sound system and used to DJ and clash with other sounds from the community. I liked the vibe from a tender age and now, fast-forward to my era, I found myself gravitating towards music more and more,” Thaxter, more popularly known as KillaImij explained in an interview with the Jamaica Observer.
KillaImij made his musical début in 2022 with the Clock Tick rhythm project and a year later he released his most recent project, the Buzzer rhythm.
Clock Tick is a joint production between KillaImij Records, JayCrazie Records and Leadaboss Music. The project features 12 songs, including the breakout single Wul Out which was recorded by dancehall artiste Munga Honorable.
Other artistes featured on the project include Javaugh Genius, Lutan Fyah, Wasp, Fantan Mojah, among others.
KillaImij explained how the collaboration with Munga Honorable came about.
“We had the Buzzer rhythm and I asked Jay [JayCrazie Records] if he could make a link with Munga on the beat. He reached out to Munga and he agreed to record on the project,” KillaImij disclosed.
He added, “Working with Munga was super easy. He is a man that knows his craft and one of the realest persons you’ll ever meet.”
KillaImij is pleased with the response that the song has been generating since its release on February 24.
“The song is receiving heavy rotation on the radio from disc jockeys and also selectors in the streets. We are happy with the response, especially from social media,” he said.
KillaImij Records was established in early 2022. Its other principals are Kirk “Leadaboss” Hall and Dexter “Management” Smith.
