Tobagonian Joeane “Jo” Archer is in Jamaica promoting her current release You, a sultry soulful love song that explores the bitter and sweet of true love.

The single has been gaining mainstream traction in the Caribbean and Africa, making its way on to several major online platforms.

“The response to the song has been incredible so far. Everybody desires to be in love, or to have that partnership or that person to rely on when things get tough. I had to get to a place where I could accept love and I think that is the situation with most people, when you find that special situation, breathe and accept it, that is your blessing,” she said.

While in Jamaica the artiste is laying tracks for 365 Shades of Jo with rising producer DRE JA while shooting a video for the main single on the album, a number called Celebrate.

She fuses the genres of reggae, dancehall, pop, and R&B to create her own fresh, eclectic sound.

Her collaborations include a dancehall-inspired number with Shaneil Muir called Sober.

Jo Archer will be embarking on an African tour in April, which includes stops at ‘Felabration’ in honour of the great Nigerian Afro-beat founder Fela Kuti, as part of the Lagos Book and Art Festival.

Despite growing up with her mother, Jo Archer revealed that most of her musical background came from her father’s side of the family.

“At the age of 12 I began to express myself through singing. I joined my secondary school choir, the community church choir, and entered local talent competitions. I later studied vocal production at The Berklee Online College of Music, and Music Business at the Point Blank Online School of Music,” she said.

She admits her inspirations include Beres Hammond, Duane Stephenson, Shaniel Muir, Ce’Cile, and Fantasia.
