Dertee says Dat A Dat
Nowadays, there are multiple slangs that are used to express different emotions or states of beings. Recording artiste Dertee has coined one of those terms into a catchy track called Dat A Dat.
“The song is really about a rich lifestyle, and it’s a slang that’s frequently used so everyone in the street can relate,” the artiste told the Jamaica Observer.
The track was officially released on February 10.
Since its release the track has been getting great responses, intensifying the artiste’s hope that it will make its mark in the industry.
“The feedback has been crazy; everyone seems to love this song and I can guarantee you will love it if you listen to it. The support for my music in general has been great, especially the fans, and mainstream DJs such as Ras Kwami from Capital Xtra, Seani B from BBC 1xtra, And DJ Davda from Kiss Fresh,” the deejay, whose given name is Narada Rose, said.
Originally from Jamaica, Dertee has been living in the UK since he was 13 years old.
In the professional music game for the past nine years, the artiste has been making his mark on the UK scene and is now ready to extend his brand to Jamaica.
“I have a unique sound plus I can mix what’s hot in the UK and also what’s hot in Jamaica. When I blend both sounds I’m able to create something special, integrating various genres, such as UK Drill, Afrobeat and dancehall,” the artiste added.
Said Dertee, “I have been able to build up a fan base over the years. The reaction to my music is great. The fans love the music as I try to cater for everyone. I do music for all ages; from the baby to the grandparents, if my supporters think I’ve not released any songs for a longer time than usual, they will ask for new music and [will] be waiting for it.”
The Jamaican entertainer also has his heart set on some collaborations with global artistes.
“I would collaborate with Nicki Minaj. I’ve always wanted to and she has done a lot for the music industry and even for our dancehall culture,” Dertee said.
