D’Angel kicks off Dream Tour on Sunday
Dancehall artiste D’Angel says all is set for her tour that will kick off on Sunday.
The entertainer said for the first time during her almost two-decade career she will be bringing along her son Marco Dean.
“It’s a collaborative effort with my booking agent and promoters that we’ve worked with in the past and new ones making offers. My fans are ready for me to come to their cities, and I’m fully prepared; everything’s packed. To make it more exciting and meaningful I’m taking my son along so he can see first-hand how hard his mom has to work to make a better life for him that I never had,” she told the Jamaica Observer.
“This tour will showcase the stronger side of D’Angel and everyone will get to see first-hand why I’m now referred to as the baddest on stage, aka the stage killer,” she added.
Dubbed the Dream Tour, the entertainer, alongside emerging act Xyclone, has so far confirmed dates in Virginia, Boston, New York, Las Vegas, and Jamaica.
Meanwhile, D’Angel, whose real name is Michelle Downer, added that the momentum that comes with the summer season is the perfect opportunity to go out and interact with her fans.
“There is not a wrong time in music, but it’s summertime, so it’s the right time. Music is always 24 hours a day [and] 365 days a year, but summertime is the right time for me ’cause I’m going to bring that flair,” she said.
D’Angel started out as a model with the popular Miguel Models in the 1990s. She later decided to audition for a group called LOY which was managed by Horatio Hamilton, music and events promoter for the Sashi series.
Among her hits are Blaze, produced by Arif Cooper; Stronger, an autobiographical tale that spoke about the struggles and the disappointments that she experienced in her life; No Worries, featuring Spice; Can’t Love You Good, featuring G Whizz; One Man with Beenie Man; Babyfather, featuring Vybz Kartel; and Love Is, featuring Cocoa Tea.
She further said that she will leave no stones unturned once she hits the stage for the upcoming tour.
“All my stops will be epic ’cause, as a performer, I don’t wait on crowds to go hard. I go hard whether it’s one person or 1,000 people. Expect the best from D’Angel’s catalogue, from Downtown Girl right up to Picking The Man, because I’m an entertainer and that’s what I bring to every show and persons can always get ready to select their favourite songs,” she said.
