Cassia Park kids get back-to-school treat
NOTHING could hold back the smiles from the scores of children in the Cassia Park community in St Andrew who were the recipients of a back-to-school treat on December 31.
The event, held at Express Carwash, was organised by co-principals of the Love, Trust, and Hope Foundation — US-based Kimberly “Kym” Corbin and local reggae artiste Jah Thunder.
The children were treated to books, school bags, clothing, hot meals, and refreshments.
“I wanted this treat to be a special one for the children, and it has worked out perfect today. See those smiling faces — it’s all about love and gratitude,” Corbin told the Jamaica Observer.
“This is the second such treat in the Cassia Park community, which began in 2021, and I am so grateful for having Jah Thunder on board. Entertainer Capleton gave me behind-the-scenes support,” she continued.
Corbin says she hopes to make next year’s treat bigger and better. Jah Thunder was equally elated at the gesture.
“I am so happy today knowing that I am giving back to this community. As entertainers we should try to be good role models so that the younger generation will live by examples,” said Jah Thunder.
Jasneth Bailey, sister of Capleton, was busy sharing meals for the kids.
“Society should be kind to children as children are indeed a heritage from the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is His reward,” she said.
