Alorica creates 350 new jobs for local market
As the local job market continues to rebound from the fallout experienced since the novel coronavirus pandemic, global business process outsourcing firm Alorica Inc is moving to add over 350 new openings to the market in its support of economic growth across the country.
“Alorica remains committed to Jamaica and we are proud to be able to invest in creating jobs here with competitive compensation, attractive benefits and accelerated career development opportunities. Although we are currently hiring for 350 new positions, we aim to create hundreds more by the end of this year,” said Andre Richards, customer experience director at Alorica Jamaica, in a recent news release.
The local job market which saw a decades-low 6.2 per cent unemployment rate for January, according to data released by the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (Statin) last week, has started to show signs of positive recovery when compared to previous periods. Statin also said that while the country’s employment figures have not yet returned to peak volumes, they were just slightly below that of pre-pandemic levels. This latest addition by Alorica is therefore expected to further strengthen recovery efforts following previous months of layoffs, reduced work hours and wages since the pandemic.
The global operator in rationalising its growth said that due to its agile performance locally, the company has been able to secure high-profile clients, resulting in the need for it to expand its operations during a time of uncertainty across the island.
“Our growth projections for the country are promising and clearly a testament to the high-quality performance and talent of our Jamaican colleagues, who deliver insanely great service that Alorica is known for and that our clients have come to expect from us,” Richards stated.
Promising a range of benefits including full-time employment, safe workspace, life and medical insurance and learning and professional development opportunities, among others, the company said it is inviting interested applicants, even those with little or no previous experience, to apply for the opening vacancies.
The openings expected to be filled over the coming months seek to attract new members ready to service prominent global companies in the telecommunication and hospitality industries through its customer service and sales divisions. “We want jobseekers to bring their whole selves to Alorica with simply a willingness to learn, excitement to grow and integrity above all else,” Richards said
The company, spanning a 23-year history, currently employs over 100,000 staff in some 16 countries globally and processes over 2 billion transactions each year. Commencing operations in Jamaica back in 2003, the company said it has established itself as a key player in the local industry.
