More options from Fesco
Future Energy Source Company Limited (Fesco) will increase its range of fuels available at select pumps beginning Friday, December 9, with the addition of FUTRON 93.
“FUTRON 93 is consistent with our mission of improving our value proposition to our customers,” Andre Royes, business administration manager — Fesco, told the Jamaica Observer‘s weekly Auto magazine.
Royes explained that the new fuel grade, 93 octane, will be sold at Fesco stations at Beechwood Avenue — Kingston; Braeton and Angels in St Catherine; Ocho Rios — St Ann. Stations in Mandeville — Manchester; Orange Bay — Hanover, and Bodles — St Catherine, will receive the new grade on December 16.
“This initiative will for the first time provide motorists with wide scale access locally to a quality grade of premium fuel at the pump, whilst continuing to differentiate Fesco within the petroleum retailers market,” he said.
Fesco formulated FUTRON 93 to meet a target Research Octane Number (RON/ROZ) of 98. Royes revealed that independent testing confirmed an actual RON/ROZ of 98.3. Motorist may be more familiar with the on pump octane rating number, the Anti-Knock Index (AKI). AKI, itself, is average of the RON/ROZ and the Motor Octane Number (MON) generating the equation ((R+M)/2). The AKI of FUTRON 93 is 93.1 based on the very same independent testing.
Given its higher octane rating, FUTRON 93 has been designed to provide several benefits to the motorist including optimised power delivery, increased fuel efficiency, a reduction in engine carbon deposits and fuel emissions. FUTRON 93 now means less reliance on octane boosters, and increased resistance to detonation within the engine, all potentially prolonging engine life. The new fuel grade will most benefit drivers of luxury and high-performance vehicles, those using forced induction such as turbocharging, engines with high compression ratios, and cars modified for increased power delivery.
“Fesco’s new FUTRON 93 is for those customers currently using E10 90, but need a more premium formulation for their vehicle,” explained Royes.
He added that Fesco will be launching other new and exciting petroleum-based products in the coming months.
