Jamaica’s Jaydon Hibbert wins prestigious Bowerman Award
Jaydon Hibbert became the first Jamaican to win the prestigious Bowerman Award on Thursday at the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Convention in Denver, Colorado.
The 18-year-old University of Arkansas student/athlete was unbeaten through the indoor and outdoor season, winning the NCAA Division One double as well as the double in arguably the toughest conference, the South-East Conference (SEC).
Along the way he set two World Under-20 records, indoors and outdoors and was the first freshman to take the award.
Also shortlisted for the award were Kyle Garland of the University of Georgia and Leo Neugebauer of the University of Texas, both decathletes.
