Hey, it’s OK…
AS women we take a lot of beating, day by day, because so much is expected of us; as mama bears we are the be-all and end-all for everybody — our partners, our children, our families, or jobs…
It can get overwhelming at times, and we feel that we’re not doing enough, not maximising our time enough, and just generally not making the most of our title as women.
But remember that you’re just one person, and the more worked up you get, the more likely you are to drive yourself up a wall, and into issues with anxiety or depression. Life coach and actualisation specialist Yolanda Livingston asks that you remind yourself today that it’s OK:
1. If it’s approaching the end of the year and you still haven’t done that physical, that second dental visit, started the gym yet, or started that healthier eating campaign that you promised you would in January — there’s still time.
2. If you’re struggling with this parenting thing and your child is just doing the most — every parent struggles.
3. That you still don’t know how to juggle being a career mom — you’re just winging it and hoping that no one calls the authorities when you mess up.
4. That you’re not super anything — super wife, super mother or super worker; leave that cape in the closet for now.
5. That you’re still working on getting out of that toxic relationship — the important thing is that you’re making some progress and shouldn’t feel rushed, especially if you’re jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
6. That you’re on diet number 56 and the pounds are still not falling off; girl, eat that ice cream and revisit that plan next week.
7. To cry sometimes — let it out, let it go, and let God.
8. To not want more in order to prove or improve yourself according to other people’s standards — not everyone is meant to be an entrepreneur or motivational speaker or empowerment guru, some women just want to sit back and not be fussy.
9. To crave something more — a better man, less demanding kids, a 24-hour housekeeper — even when you know it’s impossible. Your dreams are yours to dream, and if they make you feel better, dream them.
10. To have second thoughts about everything and every decision you make and not feel guilty about it, because it proves that your mind is still active and you can critically analyse whether things make sense or not.
