The craziest relationship requests
A post on Reddit got the Internet talking last week — the husband of a terminally ill wife with just months to live disclosed that his wife, as part of her dying wish, wanted one last romp with her ex. “She thinks that her most physically compatible and satisfying lover was him,” the husband wrote, as he expressed how difficult the situation he was in was. The post, and subsequent reactions, had us wondering about some of the strangest requests that people have been asked by their loved ones to fulfil.
From being asked to parent outside children to being OK with cheating, these people share their craziest stories.
Maurice, 44:
At first she said the child was mine, and even tried to trick me into believing that I couldn’t calculate properly, when I calculated that it was mathematically impossible for me to be the father. Then she recanted and said since I was taking care of my older children anyway, it wouldn’t hurt to give this baby my legacy too. She tried to guilt trip me, saying the child would feel left out, and deserved all the opportunities its siblings had. Not once did she say she was wrong, apologise, or name the father; it was all about what she could get, and she expected me to just fall in line.
Destiny, 28:
When I found out that he was married, he said it didn’t matter because the marriage wasn’t done in Jamaica and “they” couldn’t track him. He said he thought all women wanted marriage and a family, and he didn’t know why I was making such a big deal about his long lost wife who lived abroad.
Reggie, 57:
This Jamaican woman I knew from high school didn’t hide the fact that what she wanted was a business marriage. She wanted me to marry her, and when she got her papers we would get divorced, then she would bring her children’s father up from Jamaica. She was shocked when I said no, then said it wasn’t like any other woman would marry me anyway, since I was a nerd from high school days. Then, after she cursed me out and told me all that, she said OK, if I would consider marrying her daughter, and then the daughter could subsequently petition for all of them. We weren’t even friends like that, surprisingly, she asked all this over Facebook after randomly sending me a friend request.
Amaya, 33:
My live-in partner had a child outside then said the mother was migrating, and we would raise the child together, since I was having problems conceiving. He didn’t even ask, he just announced it like I had no choice but to comply. I just moved out and his mother is now helping him with the baby.
Gabrielle, 30:
He insisted that the women’s underwear that I found in our room was mine, even though it was several sizes smaller than I am. He tried to gaslight me into thinking that I had bought it to use as inspiration to lose weight, like I would forget that! Then when I raised hell, he asked that I cool it down, because he didn’t want the neighbours to think we were ghetto.
DeAndre, 23:
My ex asked me to pay her fees for school for one semester; mind you, we were both struggling students, and worse, she had been on work and travel and squandered her money. When I reminded her that I was broke, and could barely manage myself, she asked if I minded that an older man who was interested in her did it, because all he wanted was one date in exchange. When I said hell no, she asked what I expected her to do then?
