Your jealous ways…
WE’RE told in the Bible that jealousy is a fruit of the flesh, an antonym of love, a symptom of pride and a catalyst for conflict, but despite all these negatives, it seems like when that bug bites, we lose all common sense, and go to a place where we lose all concept of sound judgement, much like Rachel did with Leah. In fact, hell hath no fury like a jealous man or woman, and for many, it’s after their actions that they reflect on how far they went when that green-eyed monster reared its head.
How badly did your jealousy bite in a relationship?
Nichelle, 38:
When my babyfather got married, instead of just accepting it, I spent two years of my life obsessing so much over his wife, that now I’m embarrassed to remember it. I made fake pages and added her as a friend, went to the same salon she went to, asked my four-year-old son for every single detail when he would return from their house, and even did pathetic things like cut my hair like hers, and dress like her. It’s like I adopted her persona, because she was truly a nice, good woman, and I could see why he fell for her.
Kirk, 31:
I got paranoid and thought she was cheating so I did what I thought I had to do. I cloned her messaging app and read her messages, got into her e-mail, and paid someone to follow her. I had her phone location on at all times, and followed up with video messages to confirm that she was where she said she was going to be. I had been hurt in previous relationships, so I couldn’t risk being lied to again.
Kelly-Ann, 44:
Drove to Papine late at night on a public holiday to check if he was really at home or out cheating, because he was a taxi man and I couldn’t trust him. When I confirmed that his car was parked at the house and saw the light on, I drove back to Spanish Town with only me and God on the road at those hours. Never told him, or another soul, because they’d think I was crazy.
Robbie, 40:
I asked the security at our house to tell me who came to the house while I was away, and paid him to log licence plates and names. Then when I came back to Jamaica, I crossed-checked each person, to ensure that they were legit visitors and not her other men.
Brianna, 25:
I dated this guy for a couple months, and broke things off when I realised that he was dating other people too. But I didn’t let it end there. When he got serious about another girl, I played private eye and Googled her, and found all her social media, and all her family, based on who had the same last names on her social media. I had a whole folder with files on my desktop at work. That was months ago, and even today I still check in on her, to see how their relationship is progressing.
