Aswanda Stoddart: No limits
ASWANDA Stoddart is the acting general manager, administration, at Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL). This week she talks about her incredible journey filled with growth, challenges, and remarkable achievements.
AW: What was your first job?
AS: My first job was as an audit associate, where I delved into the fascinating world of numbers and financial analysis. It was a great foundation for my career, as it taught me the importance of attention to detail and critical thinking. I remember the thrill of diving into complex financial statements, uncovering discrepancies, and providing valuable insights to clients. It was like solving a puzzle. And with each successful audit, I gained a deeper understanding of how businesses operate. It was an exhilarating introduction to the corporate world, and little did I know that it was just the beginning of an incredible journey filled with growth, challenges, and remarkable achievements.
AW: What would you say is your best career achievement to date?
AS: One of my proudest moments in my career so far has been spearheading the growth of SVREL’s mobile network and footprint. It’s been a delightful journey, and now I’m thrilled to be part of the team working on upgrading the MBet Platform, our revolutionary mobile betting platform. The upcoming changes will truly enhance the gaming experience for our patrons, and I can hardly contain my excitement for their impending launch. Racing and gaming enthusiasts should definitely stay tuned over the next few weeks for the big reveal.
AW: When would you say you have worked the hardest?
AS: I would say the period when SVREL took over the operations of Caymanas Park stands out as a time when I truly pushed myself to the limit. As a key member of the team, I was tasked with instilling a customer-centric culture and driving customer engagement. It was a challenging but incredibly rewarding experience, as we worked tirelessly to create an environment in which our customers felt valued and heard. We implemented various initiatives, from revamping the facilities to enhancing the overall race-day experience. I vividly remember the excitement and satisfaction of witnessing the transformation take shape as attendance and customer satisfaction soared. It was a testament to the power of teamwork, dedication, and the impact that a customer-focused approach can have on an organisation. This experience not only solidified my passion for creating exceptional experiences, but also taught me the importance of adaptability and resilience in the face of significant changes and demands in the corporate landscape.
AW: What is your go-to for motivation?
AS: For me, inspiration and motivation come from various sources. Firstly, I find solace and guidance in the Bible. It provides timeless wisdom and strength during both good and challenging times. Secondly, my father has been a constant source of inspiration throughout my life. His unwavering support and belief in me have fuelled my drive to succeed. Lastly, I live by a quote that I have coined myself: ‘Your attitude towards life equals a 100 per cent success rate’. It serves as a reminder to approach every situation with positivity, determination, and resilience.
AW: What advice do you have for young women who are looking to pursue a career in your field?
AS: I would say, take the lid off and believe in yourselves. Your potential is immeasurable, and don’t let anyone or anything hold you back. Surround yourself with a resilient support system that encourages and uplifts you. Remember, success knows no gender boundaries, and you have the power to make a significant impact. So go out there, chase your dreams, and let your brilliance shine!
