Yanique Hall talks sales
YANIQUE Hall is sales and marketing manager, Innovative Systems. This week she talks about sales, focus, and carving out your own space.
AW: What was your first job?
YH: My first real job was a part-time customer service rep at Innovative Systems Limited in 2007.
AW: What would you say is your best career achievement to date?
YH: Leading the company that built my career, Innovative Systems Limited, to increasing monthly sales between when I was made sales and marketing manager in 2016 to 2023 by 400 per cent.
AW: When would you say you have worked the hardest?
YH: I would say right now, as the company navigates changes in operations, ownership and continuous growth in several areas. I have never worked so much in my life, yet I have never learnt so much either. But I love my team and they need me to work this hard for a better future for Innovative.
AW: What is your go-to for inspiration?
YH: The beach, it brings me peace and tranquillity. Also, being a baptised child of God, that kind of peace goes beyond my own understanding. I also like the quote, “what you focus on expands”.
AW: What is your advice to young women who are looking to pursue a career in your field?
YH: Girl, get ready for a challenge but you will love it! As a young woman in the computer sales industry, when I just started it was really difficult to navigate through sales, especially because they were so many talented and brilliant young men that dominated the field back in 2010.
Also, carve out your own space and be great at what you do; mediocrity is not acceptable in this field. Believe in your ability and put out the work to be the BEST! You can be just as good as anyone else in the field and even better because you bring to it your unique skills. Whatever that is, own it and use it to your advantage. Just go kill the game, but remember there is a God that always walks with you. Don’t try doing it on your own, He is ALWAYS there.
