Anti-ageing remedies older women swear by
‘DRINK more water’ has been the recommendation for ages as women seek that magic potion to look like they’ve turned back the hands of time, and are ageing like fine wine. But drinking water is one thing, actually seeing results is another. What anti-ageing remedies do older women swear by, that’s not solely rooted in the ‘black don’t crack’ belief?
We asked some women in the prime of their lives, and who’re looking darned good still, to spill.
Lovlette Clarke, 56:
Don’t have kids, stay single, and travel the world with your friends and have a few lovers who will worship the ground you walk on. Kids and men will do nothing but stress you and make you old. Live as stress-free as you can and always do the things you love to do and enjoy. And sleep deep, long, well and often.
Frances Persaud, 60:
Surgery — don’t let anybody fool you that black don’t crack. Black will crack and you’ll see the lines in certain specific areas. I had some work done on my face and eyes, that took 10 years off, when I was in my late 40s. After that I just followed up with facials, botox, and sunscreen and moisturising.
Lorraine Chen, 65:
Stay out of the sun, wear a hat, wear sunblock even when it’s not hot outside, and move to Mandeville. The climate there does wonders for the skin.
Bev Wisdom, 67:
Avoid man stress, don’t smoke, go to church and be comfortable with your own company. Don’t stay in any situation where you’re worrying, ‘cause worrying will just add lines to your face. Drop the no-good men and stay by yourself and use your money to travel and buy Estee Lauder products to enhance your beauty.
Verona Sutherland, 50:
Drinking water will solve so many of your issues, both internally and externally. I found that when I started drinking water with every meal and just making an effort, my skin problems cleared up. Also, just being happy will show on your face and skin. Be a happy person and share your blessings and God’s light will shine through you.
Barbra Wellington, 54:
If you’re going to drink, drink red wine. Don’t ever smoke, and try to live somewhere where there’s not a lot of pollution. Avoid coffee, sugar, carbs, processed and fatty foods. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Also cut out the gluten from your diet, and drink lots of milk.
Paula Baker, 55:
Be a happy, good, loving person who loves others. That’s the best way I know to stay looking young. Evil will show on your face as you get older – all that pestilence will seep through your pores. Best way to stay young and look young is to be decent and happy and make other people happy. Only wicked people look like old hags.
