Youngsters engaged on Read Across Jamaica Day
THERE was fun and excitement on the compounds of several primary and early childhood institutions islandwide as Scotiabank volunteers took students on an adventure through books for Read Across Jamaica Day last Tuesday.
Empowering the next generation through stories, the volunteers instilled an appreciation for reading among the children as they read and acted out a collection of children’s books from local and international authors, diving in headfirst to the imaginative world. They also encouraged students to strive for greatness, be their best selves and aim to become positive contributors to their community and country.
As part of the islandwide execution, the Scotia Foundation also kickstarted its Child Month activation and distributed $1.2 million in book vouchers to schools and students.
