Kimisha Walker’s vision
KIMISHA Walker is managing director, Adam & Eve Spa.
AW: What was your first job?
KW: Right out of school I applied for a summer job with Airport Authorities which taught the fundamentals of people skills, effective communication, tourism, time management, and the power of the dollar — working the graveyard shift all night for approximately $30,000 per month.
AW: What would you say is your best career achievement to date?
KW: I was blessed with the discernment and vision of being able to pour into the lives of others daily. It would have to be Adam and Eve Day Spa when we opened 15 years ago in 2007 and now being in a position to survive the 2008 financial crises, hurricanes, and COVID-19, and now celebrating 15 spatastic years of offering amazing service to Jamaica, the Caribbean, and international guests.
AW: When would you say you have worked the hardest?
KW: I believe you never worked a day if you enjoy what you do. Whether it’s career driven, being a wife to hubby Garth, mom of three awesome kids Kimora, Giovanni, and Kimali… Also I believe that once you invest the time and apply the 80/20 rule, success is on the horizon.
AW: What is your go-to thing/quote for inspiration/motivation?
KW: Anything that offers adventure, time with family, God, laughter, travel, peace, calm, me time, relaxation, winning, growth, inspiration, helping, giving, listening, a good read, good experience, a song, a motivational video, is food for the soul.
•Everything is impossible until it’s done.
•God’s timing, not yours.
•Faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains.
•Love will always win.
•Live, laugh, love, repeat.
AW: What is your advice to young women who are looking to pursue a career in your field?
KW: Women, it’s our time to shine, never allow lack of education to determine the outcome of your life, for you can gain a wealth of knowledge through experiences and exposure from people who are educated.
•Take the risk and learn to give it your all, stop procrastinating, procrastination can be the killer of dreams.
•Stop allowing people to place a label on you, that you stop believing in yourself.
•A ladder has many steps, don’t get overwhelmed when you have to climb more to achieve.
•Think it, ink it, plan it, and achieve it.
