Melting that C-Section belly fat
Dear Donovan,
I want to know what I can do to lose belly fat. I had a C-section 13 years ago and I developed a big belly from that.
It is a fact that births by Caesarean section are becoming more common around the world. However, with this practice comes an increase in new moms who will struggle to get rid of the post-C-section belly fat and get back in shape.
It should be noted that all pregnant women will have some belly fat which will stay around, even after delivery. However, births by C-section create a C-section shelf (pouch) that can make the belly bulge more pronounced. This bulge is usually hard to get rid of, but not impossible. However, this process will take some dedication and patience.
Note that while pregnancy overall takes a toll on the pelvic and abdominal muscles, a C-section will cause even more stress to these areas. So a focused and dedicated effort will have to be taken in order to restore and rebuild the pelvic and abdominal muscles.
I am very happy that you are now taking steps to get rid of your pudge. But I wish you had given me an idea of your current eating habits, your current weight, and even if you are on an exercise programme. But I am going to suggest that you make some lifestyle changes both to your eating habits as well as your activity/exercise programme. The truth is, if you lose weight you will lose weight over your entire body, including your belly. So the first thing I would suggest is that you do a weight loss programme involving both a diet plan as well as exercise.
The aim of your diet plan is to reduce calories and at the same time eat in a healthy way. It is important to consume more fruits, vegetables, vegetable juices, whole grains, soups, salads, yoghurt, lean meat, etc. In addition, you should also eliminate or reduce eating heavy meals after 7:00 pm.
It is also better to eat small meals several times per day instead of eating two to three large meals daily. Also, drink at least six to seven glasses of water daily. I would also suggest that you do a four to five-day detox programme. This will help to get the stomach down. Once you have done all these, you should see results.
Then do some exercises that will strengthen and tighten the abdominal muscles so that the tummy will be nice and flat.
Good luck.
