AW Fashion: New Year Closet Resolutions (Part 2)
Last week we helped women clear their closets in preparation for the new year as part of our “New Year Closet Resolutions” series with help from fashion powerhouses Jennifer Azan, Kerry-Ann Clarke and Keneea Linton-George — FLIRT Boutique , KERRYmanwomanhome and Keneea Linton Boutique proprietors, respectively. The men are assuredly not to be left out as All Woman Fashion (AWF) has amassed the expertise of Dexter Huxtable of Spokes Apparel and menswear designer Carlton Brown for this week’s instalment. Of course, the same foundation rules apply: get rid of things you don’t like but think you will learn to like, things you have not recently worn despite the opportunity having presented itself, and things you wouldn’t think to buy today because deep down even you can admit that they have lost their style appeal.
Both Huxtable and Brown have created their own lists of clothing items that can probably be tossed for 2018, and trends to look out for to keep the men looking classically chic for this and many seasons to come.

DITCH
•T-shirts that you wear once – ditch the T-shirts that are one step under muscle shirts
•Three-button suits need to go from, like, five years ago (Huxtable adds that this is only acceptable if the wearer is over 6’4”)
•Pleated pants can work on women but not men
•Shoes that are cracked and worn – you can only get them fixed so many times
KEEP
•Sequins – this is a trend that is incredibly popular with women but oh so on-trend for men for that special occasion
•Fitted clothes are never out for menswear
•Joggers are versatile enough to keep their place in your closet
•Colours should be your best friend this season, especially as spring approaches
•Mixed print clothing comes back yearly and it’s now the season. Tom Ford and other fashion houses are pushing stripes, polka dots and colour blocked prints for the new season
•Have the foundation solid black, blue and/or grey suits which are versatile enough to be retooled for several different types of functions
•Black dress shoes, preferably lace-up, are a safe choice to carry you from day to night.
•At least two white shirts – a button down and French cuff shirt are a must for the modern professional man. These shirts are both minimalist and dressy
