Vows – Where True Magic Begins
Three years ago, Meadowbrook High School Physics teacher Aldaine Minott found chemistry with customer service professional and former Digicel Rising Stars top five contestant Roxann “Roxy J” Jackson, at a band rehearsal for the Praise Break Band at their house of worship. Three years and a little biology in the mix, and the solution is complete; the two tied the knot at the Portmore New Testament Church of God – Faith Temple on Saturday, June 25. Vows takes you back to the beginning.
How they met…
…a friend of the couple, Rajiv Laird, introduced the two when he invited Aldaine to play bass guitar for the Praise Break Band. The two clicked instantly, and grew to be good friends as they shared a common interest in music and ministry. In conversation, Aldaine realised he and Roxann shared similar goals. He recalls “Initially, it was all about good fun; not knowing that in our hearts we were both praying that the Lord grants us life partners. On July 2, 2015, we made the commitment.”
The proposal…
“We were both surprised when our intentions were pronounced at a party at our friend’s house…” Roxann began, “…when Aldaine declared that I would be his life partner.” The official engagement took place on a Sunday morning during service at the McDonald Lane New Testament Church of God. You can tell by the posts on
Facebook, members of the congregation were enthralled. Aldaine on bended knee speaking from his heart; Roxanne responding in song.
“The times which really stood out to us were learning to understand each other, the way we do things; we found a connection of love and appreciation deeeper than we had before. Our love is not about feelings and the butterflies, it is a choice we make and choosing to be faithful all the time.” — Aldaine and Roxann
The ceremony…
Aldaine wore a white polyester slim-fit single-button blazer with black satin trim with a winged-collar white shirt and black pants. A black satin bowtie complemented the sharp outfit, picked up at Beautiful Brides & Mr Tux. The groomsmen wore charcoal grey suits from Spencer’s Tailoring with teal shirts, purple bowties and purple and yellow boutonnières. Redz Design created the asymmetrical bridesmaids’ dresses in teal. They waltzed to the altar to

Heads turned to the back of the room as flower girl Jade Scille appeared, leaving white rose petals in her trail. Roxann was escorted to the altar by her parents Joseph and Joan Jackson, as Gregory Porter’s
Real Good Hands played in the background. Roxann looked radiant in a white A-line lace-appliquéd dress by Valrie’s Boutique, finished with a scoop neckline and layering lace that trailed from the waist to the hem of the train. Her hair was styled in a high bun, secured with a ribbon headband.
Pastor Kenton Tracey officiated the ceremony. Vows exchanged, and unity rite out the way, Aldaine and Roxann signed their marriage certificate and were officially Mr and Mrs Minott. The two left the altar to Celine Dion’s

The reception…
…was held in the multi-purpose hall at the Portmore New Testament Church of God – Faith Temple. It was as exciting a time for the newly-weds as it was for their over 75 guests. The teal, apple green and plum theme was brought to life by decorator Keva Wilson. Live music and entertainment was provided by a group of musicians led by Lincoln Morgan. The bridal party danced their way into the ballroom to a choreographed arrangement of
Step In The Name Of Love by R Kelly.
Master of ceremonies Pastor Kenton Tracey had guests in high spirits with his remarkable charm and wit.
Nelda McIntosh catered the three-course dinner. Formalities aside — including the couple’s first dance as husband and wife to
Hide Away by Tessanne Chin, cutting the three-tiered fruitcake by Joan Jackson, and toasts to the newly-weds — guests danced the night away.
The newly-weds checked into Riu Hotel for two nights, then road-tripped to Negril to enjoy the seven mile beach and the Montego Bay lifestyle for two additional nights.
